It’s a dance

I have sewn together the strips I cut the other day lengthwise and pressed them according to instruction.

Thus, I ended up with strips again which I have cut into 12 segments each.

Working at my sewing table, I listened to the soundtrack of the 2005 movie Pride & Prejudice. Anyone who knows the movie or the novel is aware that one of the main activities of the Bennet daughters is dancing. And hopping from ironing-board to sewing machine to cutting mat and back again, I could believe myself almost dancing. Finally, after pressing, cutting, sewing, pressing and cutting again, I have now 288 strips in 24 color variations.

Guess what – I have piled them up again.

Don’t they look like piano keys? Listen to the music!

Into shreds

The cloth has been ironed and is now cut into pieces. As you can see, I made a sandwich of three layers to cut with more economy. Afterwards, I piled up the cloth again – as it was before.

My husband always teases me with sentenses like “First you buy this stuff, then you tear it into shreds so you must sew them together again. If you don’t have enough employment I can give you!” Of course, this is nonsense and he always admires my finished works – as he should.

Sew exciting

Today, I am starting my new quilt project. I have ordered the cloth kit in the US which I have never done before. I was surprised how short it took until it arrived here. Take a look at the neat stash.

I am almost reluctant to mess it up but some day I have to get started with ironing and cutting them all.

I will keep you curious and will not show you how the finished quilt will look like. I loved it the moment I saw a picture of it in my quilting magazine.

In the past few weeks I sewed many tiny projects for our annual easter market. My sister and me have been asked by the organizers if we would like to have a little exhibition of our quilt works during the market (they ask every year another craftsman to show off his/her work). So beside the big exhibition objects like king size quilts and wall hangings that are not for sale but rather nicked of the beds and walls of our homes, I decided to make some small stuff like these birdhouses and some starfish and seahorses which hopefully someone will buy.
